The purpose of continued learning of Scripture is to help us in our life mission of harvest work. Equipping is always in the context of the rubber-meeting-the-road application. Knowledge for the sake of knowledge leads to aimless and harmful arguments fueled by intellectual pride.

Knowledge of Christ in the NT is always referred to in the context of being “equipped”. Equipped for what? To being God glory by reckless abandonment to the proclamation of the gospel, “that all people might glorify God for His mercy!”

To merely fill our heads with knowledge as in itself an end is useless at best and frighteningly dangerous at worst. Learn the Word and use it for the sake of gospel proclamation!
